How a simple pH test kit can change your health

Skin Friend pH kit eczema life

I wasn't always healthy, y'know. I didn't like exercising and I ate "whatever I liked".

And I often wondered why I felt like crap 90% of the time.

My skin looked awful and I got sick if someone sneezed within a 10 mile radius. It's funny, whenever I'm unwell and miserable, I learn something oh so important and life-changing. I find a solution.

My doctor used to tell me "You just need to eat healthier and exercise" (yes I had an ammmmazing doctor who "got it"). But me, being the stubborn person I am, had to research WHY I needed to eat well, so I became a nutritionist. I ALWAYS need proof.

That's why I'm obsessed with this pH kit. Each day it shows me if I'm BEING healthy, or kidding myself (and being a bit laaaazy). Trust me, I can be lazy and unmotivated.

But this pH kit keeps me on track.

What can adversely affect your pH and make it more acidic?

  • Stress
  • Illness
  • Poor diet
  • Diets high in protein and low in vegetables
  • Diets high in carbohydrates and low in vegetables
  • Sugar consumption
  • Skin inflammation
  • Fermented foods (such as sauerkraut)

Did you know your pH (urine or saliva) will be more acidic if you are stressed or unwell with a cold or illness? So a healthy diet can be perfectly alkalising when you are relaxed and well, but it might not be quite alkaline enough during difficult times. That's why your pH readings can change even when you eat the same foods daily. Monitoring your pH shows you what's really going on inside and it can keep you on track no matter what you are going through.

What are the health benefits of having an optimal pH?

Your body’s acid-alkaline balance is important for good health and wellbeing, and by having a urine or saliva pH that is consistently slightly alkaline (by eating the right foods) it can help to:

  • create clear, healthy skin
  • brighten your eyes
  • improve eczema/dermatitis
  • reduce food sensitivities
  • promote bone health
  • boost energy levels
  • promote healthy weight-loss
  • prevent candida
  • improve immune system health
  • improve gut health
  • reduce premature skin ageing
  • improve heartburn
  • prevent bad breath
  • reduce body odour

Check your pH if you have skin problems or food sensitivities:

If you have any skin issues, a pH test kit is a useful tool to monitor your progress on your way to beautiful skin. And it's great for people with eczema and food and chemical sensitivities, as research shows that when your urine pH is an alkaline 7.5 or above, the body eliminates more salicylates via your urine, and that's a good thing.

And you don't need to have problem skin to use one, as it's helpful for anyone who wants to monitor how their diet affects their pH.

You can also:

  • measure the alkalinity of your saliva – simply spit into a container and use a pH strip to measure the pH
  • or use a pH strip to test the pH of your drinking water

So I thought I'd share the Skin Friend pH kit with you
